What if your child is missing a permanent tooth? Children usually lose their last baby tooth around the age of 12 years old. Usually when a baby tooth is lost a permanent tooth’s eruption is not far behind. If a permanent tooth does not appear in a reasonable amount of time, it could be for a few reasons. Either the tooth is impacted, crowded or missing. A dental x-ray is the best way to figure out the problem. There are a few options if the permanent tooth is missing. You can:

Preserve the baby tooth

Replace the tooth

Orthodontically close the space

It’s important to note that these options are not interchangeable for one another. At myORTHODONTIST, we’ll help determine the best choice for your child based on their condition. We will assess their bite and provide you with a solution. Contact us at myORTHODONTIST to book an orthodontic consultation in Calgary for your child.
